| So much is happening at Cornelia UMC that it's hard to list it all. This church is on the GO constantly.
At Cornelia UMC all of the members are ministers. Everyone is involved in doing the work of the Lord. The paid staff stands ready to serve you in whatever way they can.
DISCOVERY & REFLECTION WEEKEND A GREAT SUCCESS!: The participation from our congregation and church staff was excellent over the Discovery and Reflection weekend. Jim Hollis and six members of his staff conducted interviews with each of our church staff, all our major committees and 75 members of the congregation. On Sunday PEM attended the "Morning Song" service led by Don Bagwell, Sunday School and Church. In addition, they conducted 12 telephone interviews the following week for folks who were out of town on the weekend and wanted to participate. On October 25th PEM will return to lead us in a "Town Hall Sunday". Following a covered dish meal, they will present a comprehensive "State of the Church" report and a proposed "Strategic Ministry Plan" based entirely upon all of our shared input through the surveys, interviews and their observations. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend this important meeting in the life of the church. Special thanks are in order to all of the volunteers who helped to make the weekend a success and especially to those members who participated in the surveys and interviews so that PEM could hear from the heart of our church. Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will help us to become the church that God would have us be.
Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child: It will soon be time to fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Please pick up instruction sheets at church and return filled shoeboxes along with your check for $7.00 inside each box no later than Sunday, November 22. Wrapping shoeboxes are okay but please wrap the lids separately and use a rubber band to secure. The need is great and God's children are are many--- let's help those who otherwise would not receive anything to have a Merry Christmas. Additional Information from Michael Carroll 706-778-7230 ot 706-499-2122
Upcoming Children Events: We will be working on special things for the holidays, so please be sure that you children are at every practice so that they can take part in these events.

Retreat at Glisson this year! Six of our upcoming youth learned what it means faithfully to participate with our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness in workshops designed especially for them. They also learned about the history of the Church and our Methodist heritage! The content covered this past weekend, and the amount of information these kids soaked up was thrilling! We made it back in time to catch part of Sunday's sermon- and the kids were excited when Charlie mentioned Martin Luther and John Wesley. "Hey- we know what he's talking about!" I would like to say thank you to all our members who support our youth ministry not only with your gifts, but also with your prayers, presence, service and witness. The youth ministry of Cornelia UMC is your ministry! Grace and Peace!
Hey, you young people! Thanks for everything you do. We've been together for a year now! Can you believe it? It's been a great year of getting to know each other, having fun-"Hey, anyone up for bowling my head?"-and taking steps on our faith journeys. I had an awesome time on the ski retreat. I think that you all did a great job of spreading your "lights". I'd say they knew we were Christians without seeing our van! Thanks for everything! I'd also like to give a shout out to all the parents who've helped me this year. The cooking has been great! The planning and scheduling help was particularly valuable.

Reservations are required for the Wednesday Night Dinners. You may make a standing reservation or you may make reservations on a week-to-week basis. Reservations and/or cancellations must be made by Noon on Tuesday. The food is ordered and meals are prepared based on the number of reservations that we have on Tuesday.
The standing policy is that those who do not keep reservations that have been made are still expected to pay for the meals so that the church does not have to absorb this additional expense.
